Why SGPA and CGPA drift apart.

SGPA is volatile and CGPA is not. A single semester carries perhaps a sixth of your total credits, so one strong term lifts the cumulative figure by a fraction of its own improvement. This is the arithmetic behind advice that early semesters matter most: they are the ones with the fewest credits behind them, so they move the cumulative number furthest, and they are also the ones students treat as practice.

Questions about sgpa

How do I convert SGPA to CGPA?: You cannot convert one semester into a cumulative figure without the rest of your record. Enter your prior CGPA and prior credits above and the panel does the weighting properly rather than averaging the two numbers.
Why is my SGPA higher than my CGPA?: Because earlier semesters are pulling the cumulative figure down and they carry more credits between them than this one does. The gap closes slowly, in proportion to how many credits are already behind you.
Do audit or non-credit subjects count?: No. Subjects carrying zero credits contribute nothing to either figure, though they may still appear on the grade sheet and may still be required for the degree.
