Academic Planning · pattern E, Dates

Attendance percentage, with the shortfall in whole classes.

A percentage is hard to act on; a number of classes is not. This converts attended-over-held into both, and tells you how many consecutive sessions you would have to attend to climb back over a threshold.

Inputs

The formula used

Attendance % = attended ÷ held × 100

The recovery figure solves (attended + x) ÷ (held + x) ≥ required for x, which is why it grows so steeply the further below the line you are.

Attendance

Classes you could still miss
0

66.13 %

72.86 %

Recovery is not symmetric with loss.

Missing one class out of sixty costs about 1.2 percentage points; regaining those points takes several consecutive attendances, because each new session adds to both the numerator and the denominator. At a 75% threshold, every absence needs roughly three perfect attendances to undo. This is why the tool reports whole classes: percentages hide how quickly the arithmetic turns against you.

Questions about attendance percentage

Can I be barred from an exam for attendance?
At institutions that enforce a minimum, yes, and it is usually automatic. The remedy is a documented mitigation case filed before the deadline, not a conversation afterwards.
Do online sessions count?
Depends entirely on how the register is taken. Live-attendance logs, recording views and self-certification are all used, and they are not equivalent — ask which one your module uses.
Does attendance affect my grade directly?
Sometimes a small participation component, but more often it acts as a gate: meet it and it is invisible, miss it and the assessment is withheld regardless of your marks.

A calculator handles the arithmetic. It cannot teach you the method.

If the number is not the part you are stuck on, that is what the service is for — a specialist who explains the working, not just the answer.

Grade point values, rounding rules and academic standing thresholds are set by your institution and vary widely. Nothing here is an official record of your standing.
