Order of elements: author, date, title, source, locator. Italics are not applied here — apply them to the source title in your document.
Markers check whether every in-text citation has a matching reference-list entry, whether the format is applied consistently, and whether the sources are real and relevant. A generator gets the element order right and knows nothing about whether the page range is correct or the author's initials are the right way round. Check every generated entry against the source itself before submitting.
